Ramada Express: Our Quick Review As of Summer 2007, the Ramada Express has been renamed the Tropicana Express Laughlin. Ramada Express is a 27 acre resort with a Victorian-era train station theme blended with some nice patriotic touches. It is the only casino hotel in Laughlin that is not directly on the river shore (it's across the street), but the central strip location is ideal and there is always lot going on. Families will enjoy the swimming pool, free shows, and free trains rides. The casino offers many promotions and tournaments. Ramada Express Hotel also provides some great values. Restaurants are reasonably priced and diverse enough to satisfy all tastes. The rooms are nice and generally quite inexpensive. Resort Amenities Tropicana Express Accomodations: The 12-story Casino Tower (for guests 21 and older only) and the 24-story Promenade Tower house a combined 1500 guest rooms and suites all decorated in a Victorian style. River, mountain, and Town Square views are available. Gambling @ Tropicana Express: 1,300 machines (slots, video poker and keno), popular tables games (including $3 blackjack, and true 3x odds craps), a poker room, a sports book, and a keno lounge. Swimming and Recreation: Tropicana Express features sundeck with a heated outdoor swimming pool shaped like a locomotive, cabanas, recliners, and tables with umbrellas. There is also a putting green, and children will enjoy the Ramada's video games arcade and free train rides. Shopping Tropicana Express is located very close to the Horizon Outlets Mall. Within the resort, there are also several shops including a convenience store; jewelry, gift, and smoke shops; and a boutique with resort wear, accessories, and Native American jewelry. Entertainment and Nightlife: The Express hosts big shows and headliners in its Pavillion Theater (see Laughlin entertainment calander). Free live entertainment, karaoke, and dancing can be enjoyed in the Caboose Lounge. Tropicana Express Location: The Ramada is the only Laughlin casino hotel not located on the river (it is across the street). The property is near the center of the Laughlin Strip, close to Horizon Outlets Mall, and across from the Pioneer Laughlin and the Colorado Belle. Dining at Tropicana Express The Steakhouse Fine dining in an intimate setting. Specialties include aged T-bone steak, chateaubriand, lobster tail, and Alaskan king crab. Dinner only. Entrees run $26-50. Tularosa Cantina Serves New Mexican and Southwestern dishes, such as fajitas, burritos and enchiladas. Open for dinner and weekend lunches. $8-9 for most entrees. Passaggio Italian Gardens A charming cafe with red and white checkered tablecloths. The cuisine includes pizzas ($10.99-18), lasagna, chicken parmagiana, and other Italian favorites. Most entrees run $10 to $18, and there are early bird specials from $5.99. Carnegie's Dining Car 24-hour cafe. American fare such as burgers and sandwiches ($8), salads, steak and prime rib, fish & chips, pork chops, shrimp basket, with most entrees costing $9-15. Roundhouse Buffet Breakfast and dinner all-you-can-eat buffets. Dinner is just $5.99 with Players Card (add prime rib for only $4 extra). Minato's Sushi Bar Casual. Located in the Eclipse Bar. More Dining For a quick bite to eat, try Ramada's Under the Stairs snack bar (hot dogs, sandwiches, nachos, garden salads, ice cream, popcorn, etc). The Caboose Lounge is open 24-hours and serves typical bar food (burgers, wings, wraps, quesadillas, etc).
