Tropicana Express: Our Quick Review Formerly the Ramada Express Laughlin, this property became the Tropicana Express Hotel & Casino in Summer 2007. The Tropicana Express is a 27 acre resort with a Victorian-era train station theme blended with some nice patriotic touches. It is the only casino hotel in Laughlin that is not directly on the river shore (it's across the street), but its central strip location is ideal and there is always a lot going on. Families will enjoy the swimming pool. The casino offers many promotions and tournaments. The Tropicana Hotel also provides some great values. Restaurants are reasonably priced and diverse enough to satisfy all tastes. The rooms are nice and generally quite inexpensive. Resort Amenities Tropicana Express Accomodations: The 12-story Casino Tower (for guests 21 and older only) and the 24-story Promenade Tower house a combined 1000 renovated guest rooms and suites with contemporary decor. River, mountain, and Town Square views are available. Gambling @ Tropicana Express: More than 1,000 machines (slots, video poker and keno), popular tables games, a poker room, a sports book, and a keno lounge. Swimming and Recreation: Tropicana Express features a sundeck with a heated outdoor swimming pool, cabanas, recliners, and tables with umbrellas. Children will enjoy the Ramada's video games arcade. Shopping Tropicana Express is located very close to Laughlin's outlets mall. Within the resort, there are also a few shops including a convenience store, jewelry, a gifts and smoke shop, and a boutique with resort wear and accessories. Entertainment and Nightlife: The Express hosts big shows and headliners in its Pavillion Theater (see Laughlin entertainment calander). Free live entertainment, karaoke, and dancing can be enjoyed in the Caboose Lounge. Tropicana Express Location: Tropicana is the only Laughlin casino hotel not located on the river (it is across the street). The property is near the center of the Laughlin Strip, close to the Preferred Outlets Mall, and across from the Pioneer Laughlin and the Colorado Belle. Entrees run $26-50. Taqueria del Rio Inexpensive Mexican cuisine. Passaggio Italian Gardens A charming cafe with red and white checkered tablecloths. The cuisine includes pizzas ($10.99-18), lasagna, chicken parmagiana, and other Italian favorites. Most entrees run $10 to $18, and there are early bird specials from $5.99. Carnegie's Dining Car 24-hour cafe. American fare such as burgers and sandwiches ($8), salads, steak and prime rib, fish & chips, pork chops, shrimp basket, with most entrees costing $9-15.
